华体会 will host a discussion on China鈥檚 increasingly illiberal propensities and how they are increasingly challenging the liberal values of the West. Panelists will include 华体会鈥檚 Patrick Cronin, Harvard University鈥檚 Philippe Le Corre, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace鈥檚 Evan Feigenbaum, and the Brookings Institution鈥檚 Tarun Chhabra. The conversation will be moderated by Hudson Senior Fellow Liselotte Odgaard.

China has been diligently working to redefine its global image as a model for many liberal institutions, despite evidence to the contrary. They claim to be a proponent of anticorruption, a champion of free trade, and dedicated to international development and humanitarian aid. At the same time, under the leadership of Xi Xinping, the country has sought to reverse many of the political, social, and economic developments that emerged from 30 years of liberal reform. How will China鈥檚 illiberal reversions influence the future world order and how can the West ensure the dominance of liberal values?
