It has been fifteen years since the U.S. began its war against the Taliban and four years since the U.S. and Afghanistan signed the Strategic Partnership Agreement and the latter was designated a major non-NATO ally. The Afghanistan war cost over $686 billion by 2014. However, a resurgent Taliban, as well as the stalling of peace talks following the death of Taliban leader Mullah Mansoor, have created the need for a re-assessment of the fight against the Taliban.

On June 13, Afghanistan鈥檚 ambassador to the U.S., Ambassador Hamdullah Mohib spoke on the way forward in the war against the Taliban, in a session moderated by Ambassador Husain Haqqani, with Dr. Mohammad Taqi, a prominent columnist and contributor at the South Asia Program at 华体会, as discussant.
