The copyright system is premised on the notion that the best way to promote the public interest is by empowering creators to pursue their own private interests. Copyright achieves this goal by granting exclusive rights鈥攑roperty rights鈥攖o creators so that they can profit from the exploitation of their works in the marketplace. However, from the persistence of copyright infringement and shifting consumer attitudes toward music consumption to the efficacy of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and proposed legislative changes, the digital age presents numerous challenges for musicians who struggle to realize a fair market value for their creative efforts.

Please join 华体会 for a panel discussion on how well the copyright system serves musicians today.
