**This event will premiere on this page at 12:00 p.m. EDT, Thursday, June 11.**

Join 华体会 for a discussion with Assistant Secretary of State David Schenker and other top experts on the trajectory of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. Hudson Senior Fellow Michael Doran will moderate the panel.

Although the Middle East continues to command significant attention in Washington, the Trump administration is increasingly focused on great power competition with China and Russia. Many analysts believe that the Middle East will inevitably become a lower priority in American foreign affairs.

Is this assessment correct? Or will the region instead become a significant arena of great power competition and remain a top foreign policy priority? Is there a way to reduce the American military footprint in the Middle East without turning it over to our adversaries, especially Iran?

Our guests will weigh in on these questions as they discuss the strategic priorities at stake in the Middle East.
