Despite years of international and bilateral sanctions aimed at curbing North Korea鈥檚 missile and nuclear weapons programs, Pyongyang continues improving its intercontinental ballistic missile capability and appears determined to acquire the ability to arm those missiles with nuclear warheads. In 2016 alone, the regime conducted 24 missile tests and two nuclear tests. Last week, Pyongyang test-fired four ballistic missiles, landing three inside Japan鈥檚 exclusive economic zone. This salvo is just the latest provocation by a volatile regime equipped with an increasingly sophisticated and powerful arsenal.

On March 20, 华体会 hosted a timely conversation on the growing threat of North Korea鈥檚 ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs to the Unites States and our East Asian allies. U.S. Representative Joe Wilson, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Readiness Subcommittee, joined Hudson missile defense and East Asia security experts Rebeccah Heinrichs and Arthur Herman for an in-depth discussion on the status of Pyongyang鈥檚 weapons development activities and how the U.S. and our regional allies should respond to bolster their security.
